Final SNAP Payments – Millions of American families receive monthly payments from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) via Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards, helping them buy groceries every month. In spite of being a federal program, SNAP benefits and payday schedules vary from state to state, so recipients can access funds at different times of the month depending on their state.
Several states are still distributing payments to qualifying recipients in September, and payments to larger households can reach $1,751.
Payments
SNAP payments are not being issued in all states this month. Your September benefits are likely to have already been distributed if your state isn’t listed below. Check your EBT balance to verify. Some states, however, may still be receiving payments:

Alabama | September 4-23 |
Arizona | September 1-13 |
Arkansas | September 4-13 |
Delaware | September 2-23 |
Florida | September 1-28 |
Georgia | September 5-23 |
Indiana | September 5-23 |
Kentucky | September 1-19 |
Louisiana | September 1-23 |
Maine | September 10-14 |
Maryland | September 4-23 |
Massachusetts | September 1-14 |
Michigan | September 3-21 |
Minnesota | September 4-13 |
Mississippi | September 4-21 |
Missouri | September 1-22 |
New Mexico | September 1-20 |
North Carolina | September 3-21 |
Ohio | September 2-20 |
Tennessee | September 1-20 |
Texas | September 1-28 |
Utah | September 11 and 15 |
Washington | September 1-20 |
Wisconsin | September 1-15 |
Your Social Security Number (SSN) may determine when your payment arrives in some states. For instance, in Wisconsin, your SNAP payday is determined by your eighth digit.
Checking
SNAP benefits are determined differently in each state. For example:
- According to your Social Security Number’s eighth digit, Wisconsin payments are scheduled for September 11, whereas benefits for those with 8 or 9 are scheduled for September 12. If you have an eighth or ninth digit, you will receive your SNAP payments on September 14 or 15.
USDA’s SNAP website offers monthly payment schedules for every state: USDA SNAP Payment Schedule for more information about your state’s issuance schedule.
Amounts
You receive SNAP benefits based on household size beginning in 2024. As of 2025, these are the maximum benefit amounts before any COLA (Cost of Living Adjustment) increases:
Household Size | Maximum Monthly Benefit |
---|---|
1 person | Up to $291 |
2 people | Up to $535 |
3 people | Up to $766 |
4 people | Up to $973 |
5 people | Up to $1,155 |
6 people | Up to $1,386 |
7 people | Up to $1,532 |
8 people | Up to $1,751 |
Additional payments of $219 per person are added to households with eight or more people in order to encourage families to maintain healthy diets despite financial difficulties.
Qualified candidates
Your household’s income and size determine whether you are eligible for SNAP. In general, households must meet income limits to qualify. The lower the household income and the larger the household, the higher the benefit. Income, expenses, and the number of dependents are all taken into account when calculating SNAP payments. Those with more dependents or lower incomes may qualify for higher payments, like $1,751 for an eight-member family.
Benefits
Final SNAP Payments – By tracking the payment schedule carefully and utilizing their EBT cards to buy nutritious foods like fruits, vegetables, dairy, and protein, SNAP recipients can maximize their benefits.
